SOLVE’s vision is to contribute to a sustainable positive development in the
Lake Victoria region by focussing on the maritime potential and by creating a“safe maritime culture”
By introducing the strategy of “ Safe Shipping”, SOLVE plans to undertake an
overall commitment over areas such as
-Search and rescue (SAR)
-Safe behaviour
-Safe ships
-Safe sea lanes
SOLVE aims at working within the framework of the goals for support to the
region set by the Swedish Government and with the nations around
LV
SOLVE’s working method is to contribute by transferring
know-how with a view
to gradually and – and within the wishes or directives of regional and/or national
authorities and when the know-how has been transferred – turn over the
different activities to appropriate stakeholders
SOLVE will be instrumental in supporting national and regional authorities in
creating a legal framework for safe shipping on

Within the SOLVE group members have long time experience and professional
know-how concerning:
• Navigation
• Shipping
• Sea Rescue
• Basic and advanced training for mariners
• Formulating requirements and managing of independent procurements
• Development of maritime Command and Control Systems
• Hydrographic surveying
• Healthcare and tropical diseases
The SOLVE group has knowledge and experience of the Lake Victoria region and
the relevant communities.
The SOLVE group wishes to co-operate with the EAC, the governments of Kenya,
Tanzania and Uganda, Swedish and other Development Agencies as well as
East-African commercial players, Churches and other NGOs in the
region
